Hayel Saeed Anaam Group (HSA) Food Manufacturing Companies in Yemen are committed to conducting its food processing operations, including the sourcing of raw materials in a manner that protects the environment, promotes sound management of its workforce and contractors, achieve social well-being and food security, and ensures sustainable development across all our business aspects in Yemen. This commitment is guided by our core values and Code of Conduct.
Purpose: Ensure compliance with all applicable Yemeni’ legal and regulatory requirements, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards (PSs) and the World Bank Group (WBG) EHS Guidelines (general and sector-specific). This aims to reduce the environmental and social risks and impacts, implement robust environmental and social management systems, promote transparent and fair human resource (HR) policy and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures, enhance resource efficiency, prevent pollution, and achieve continuous improvement in environmental and social performance.
Scope: This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and suppliers involved in the operations of the food companies of Hayel Saeed Anaam Group in Yemen.
Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS): The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anam Group in Yemen will develop and implement an ESMS aligned with ISO 14001, ISO26001 and ISO 45001 and in compliance with IFC PS1 and PS2 requirements with the objective of continuously improving environmental and social performance across all activities and operations in accordance with the Companies Environmental Policy and the Companies OHS Policy
Compliance: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anam Group in Yemen are committed to meeting all applicable Yemeni legal and regulatory requirements, IFC PSs and WBG’s General and Sector-specific EHS Guidelines.
Structure and Management: The regional management and the management of the food companies of Hayel Saeed Anam Group in Yemen are committed to setting strategic and annual objectives, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), that contribute to achieving environmental and social/OHS goals as set in HSA strategic five-year plan (2026-2030).
Environmental and Social Risk Management: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anam Group in Yemen are committed to adopting an effective approach to risk assessment and management, including the preparation of comprehensive Environmental Management Plans based on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIAs) studies, the development and implementation of its own HSA’s E&S Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering environmental, HR procedures, including provision related to Gender Violence and Children Safeguarding, OHS, resource efficiency, pollution prevention and control, risks related to community health and safety (traffic safety, food safety and security) requirements and conducting periodic internal / external audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the risk-management framework, including PS-1 ESMS implementation, and overall E&S performance
Resource Efficiency and Pollution Prevention: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anaam Group in Yemen will continuously enhance resource efficiency, particularly in water and energy use, and will prevent and control pollution by minimizing waste at the source and implementing effective waste-management practices.
Emergency Preparedness and Response: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anaam Group in Yemen will develop and implement an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan to address environmental, security, and safety incidents promptly and effectively.
Biodiversity Conservation and Protection: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anaam Group in Yemen will implement practices to protect natural habitats and avoid activities that may lead to the loss of biodiversity values.
Training and Capacity Building: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anaam Group in Yemen will promote continuous improvement in environmental and social performance among employees, customers, and suppliers. Environmental, social and community training and awareness programs will be provided to all employees, contractors and suppliers.
Community Engagement: The food companies of Hayel Saeed Anam Group in Yemen will engage with communities to enhance environmental and social initiatives by establishing communication channels and grievance mechanisms for resolving community complaints related to environmental and social issues.
