HSA Group and SAP Partner to Develop Digital Talent in Yemen

10 May 2023 - Sana'a, Yemen - HSA Group, and SAP, the global leader in enterprise software, have teamed up to launch the second class of the SAP Young Professionals Program in Yemen, where trainees will embark on a two-month training course that will set them up for long-term career success in the fast-paced digital world.

A cohort of 30 university graduates have been chosen after passing a rigorous selection process to start a journey to gain hands-on experience working in Yemen's largest and leading company and be empowered to make a difference to the communities that HSA Group serves in Yemen and beyond.

Running the program in Yemen for the second time reflects HSA Group and SAP's commitment to unlocking the potential of Yemen's future generations. The training initiative aims to upskill young Yemeni talent, with all 21 trainees graduating from the program in 2021 in its inaugural year. It forms a core component of a broader strategic partnership between the two organisations, which is focused on future-proofing the business, investing in developing HSA Group's people and technology across its operations and supporting Yemen's communities.

"As a Yemeni company, we are committed to the future of our country and our people. We believe that the SAP Young Professionals Program will play a critical role in developing the digital talent needed to drive economic growth in Yemen," said Nabil Hayel Saeed, HSA Group Yemen Region's Managing Director. "The SAP Young Professionals Program is committed to providing high-quality training and development programs to young Yemenis, focusing on digital skills. The program is a critical part of our strategy to develop digital talent in Yemen and promote economic growth."

"The partnership between HSA Group and SAP underscores the importance of collaboration to address the skills gap and to promote economic growth. Our goal is to support Yemen's economy and to create job opportunities for young Yemenis," he added.

The partnership aims to address the skills gap in Yemen by providing world-class training in software development, project management, and data analytics (SAP Business Process Integration with SAP S/4HANA 2020 & SAP S/4HANA Cloud public edition implementation with SAP Activate). The two-month program includes classroom and hands-on training, allowing participants to work on real-world projects and gain valuable experience.

As part of the partnership, SAP will provide access to its latest technologies and training materials, while HSA Group will provide local expertise and support. The program is open to both male and female Yemeni applicants, with a commitment to increasing the number of female participants.

"Our partnership with SAP for a second year demonstrates HSA's long-standing commitment towards Yemen's next generation," said Mohamed Khalifa, Chief Information and Technology Officer, HSA Group – Yemen region. "The SAP Young Professionals Program's skills and knowledge will provide participants with the skills needed for a career in an increasingly demanding digital landscape. We are proud to continue supporting this program and empowering future business leaders," he added.

The SAP Young Professional Program is a pioneering initiative of the Digital Skills Center of SAP, which provides unemployed or underemployed recent university graduates with two to three months of digital skills training to become certified SAP Associate Consultants.
